On 24 August, 2008 Alessandra and her fiance, Jamie Mazur, welcomed their daughter, Anja Louise Ambrosio Mazur. Born on a Sunday at 7:32pm local time in Florianópolis, Brazil, at the St. Helena Clinic, Anja weighed 6.3 pounds.

Alessandra noted after the birth , “[Anja] hasn’t cried once except for a second when they pulled her out. We have now felt a new kind of love and joy that we never knew existed.

Allow me to introduce you to someone you may have never met, but in a way you know. You will recognize Alessandra Ambrosio from her many years of modeling for some of the best-known designers in fashion. Now her name, as beautiful as the person it refers to, is becoming a household name worthy of her supermodel status.

She is best known for her energetic and charming personality, but is most recognized for her work with Victoria Secret, Armani, Hering, Christian Dior, and many more of the world's most famous fashion designers.

Born and raised Erexim (Erechim), Brazil – a non-coastal town close to Uruguay and Argentina – Alessandra still visits her family in Brazil regularly and calls Erexim her favorite place in the world, and her mother (along with her agent Richard Habberley) as the biggest influence in her life. She now lives in New York, California and other parts of Brazil where she has homes. Including a home in the Southern Brazilian surfing town of Florianopolis (or Floripa).

Alessandra began modeling at the age of 15 at Dilson Stein modeling school in Brazil. There, she entered Elite's Look of the Year contest, which eventually led to a contract with Elite Model Management. Her first modeling job was with Brazilian Elle.

Eventually, she moved to New York and center stage in the world of modeling. Her first big break came courtesy of Guess? when she was featured with her best friend - and fellow model – Ana Beatriz Barros, in the Guess? Millennium Campaign.

Alessandra has taken the fashion world by storm. Her portfolio has grown to include - among many others - Calvin Klein, Christian Dior, Rolex, Ralph Lauren, Fendi, Hering, Escada and, of course, Victoria’s Secret. Her numerous covers across the globe include Glamour, GQ, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, Marie Claire, Victoria’s Secret, Loft Magazine, Cosmopolitan, Arena and Homem Vogue. Her personal favorite shoots are Victoria’s Secret, Guess and Pirelli calendar.

Currently, her representation is Richard Habberly of Elite Plus - based in New York. This boutique-styled agency within model agency powerhouse, Elite, is dedicated to established clients, such as Alessandra, and positioning them to compete with actors and musicians for advertising dollars. Elite Plus was established by Habberly and Conor Kennedy in June 2006.

When in New York, Alessandra utilizes the Brazilian art of capoeira to stay in shape. Her regular exercise program also includes the Brazilian Butt Lift and Brazilian Tummy Tuck. She is an avid surfer and is active with volleyball, bodyboarding, snowboarding and inline skating. She even has an interest in skydiving.

Her other interests include karaoke, sunglasses and collecting Barbie dolls. She is a chocoholic, but knows to cut down before a big show. An avid coffee drinker – up to five cups a day – she finds American coffee stale and not as strong as in Brazil. She also likes to drink tequila and caipirihnas – a native Brazilian drink made from cachaca.

Alessandra listens to a wide variety of music from reggae and rock to hip hop and electronic. Nirvana, Pearl Jam and INXS are listed as some of her favorite artists. If you know Alessandra, you know she often reports that pink is her favorite color and she prefers catalog photoshoots to runway work. Her favorite designers include Ralph Lauren and Dolce & Gabana. She also admits to a celebrity crush on Johnny Depp.

Beyond of her modeling career, Alessandra has been involved in a variety of interests. She has produced her own line of swimwear called Alessandra Ambrosio by Sais. Sold on victoriasecret.com and other outlets, it was a decided success as it sold over 10,000 units in less than one-year on the market.

There has also been a handful of television and movie appearances in addition to her numerous guest appearances and interviews. She had a cameo appearance in the 2006 James Bond movie, Casino Royale, and in 2007 appeared in the Season Three, Second Half premiere episode of the HBO America TV series, Entourage. She was also a guest judge in Season Two of Project Runway. More recentely, she was in an episode of the CBS-TV show, "How I Met Your Mother" (November 2007) and VH1's "The Shot" (December 2007).

Alessandra currently serves as an Ambassador for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society to help create a world free of MS both for her father, who has the disease, and the 2.5 million others worldwide who are trying to move forward with their lives despite the challenges they face living with this chronic unpredictable disease of the central nervous system.


Personal Life -

Alessandra Corine Ambrosio was born April 11, 1981 in Erechim, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Her parents, gas station owners, were of Polish and Italian descent. Inspired to model at a young age, she began her career at the age of 15. She has since established herself as one of the most successful models working today. She uses her celebrity status to support causes such as the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and in her free time enjoys dancing and surfing. She is reportedly best friends with fellow supermodel Ana Beatriz Barros and on March 7, 2008 she announced she was pregnant with the child of boyfriend Jamie Mazur. She gave birth to their daughter on August 24.

Ambrosio's professional modeling career began when she won the Elite Model Look contest in Brazil at the age of 15. From there she landed a high profile campaign with Guess which fast tracked her to supermodel status. She has since established herself as one of the world's busiest models with successful campaigns for Victoria's Secret, Calvin Klein, Gucci and others. She has appeared on the cover of over 50 international magazines and was chosen as one of People Magazine's 100 Most Beautiful People in the World in 2007.
